When Life Gives You Tangerines Review: A Soul-Stirring Masterpiece Starring IU and Park Bo-Gum Image Source: Netflix There’s something about finishing a K-drama that leaves me utterly hollow. It’s as if a part of me detaches, floating somewhere between fiction and reality. I sit there, staring at the screen, letting the last scene linger in my mind before the credits roll. Then, almost like a delayed wave, emotions come crashing in: grief, joy, nostalgia, and the desperate need to talk about it. That’s exactly what happened when I finished watching When Life Gives You Tangerines. Netflix's  chart-topping K-drama, When Life Gives You Tangerines, starring IU and Park Bo-Gum, is one of those rare treasures: a story that unfolds with the unhurried grace of the seasons changing on Jeju Island. Much of this multigenerational saga is set against the island’s breathtaking landscapes, weaving a narrative that is as tender as it is powerful. This drama doesn’t just tell a story; ...
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Movie Review: The Timeless Tale of Dreams, Love, and Friendship That Still Resonates After 12 Years

When Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD) first hit the screens in 2013, it quickly became more than just a movie. It turned into a cultural phenomenon that people started resonating with. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kalki Koechlin, the film gave us an irresistible blend of youthful energy, emotional depth, and unforgettable music. Now, 12 years later, the movie has made a grand return to theatres, rekindling the magic and making us wonder why it remains so relevant to today's youth.

The film mainly centers on Kabir Thapar (Ranbir Kapoor), who is often referred to as Bunny, and Naina Talwar (Deepika Padukone). Bunny is the wanderer, a dreamer who has a zest for life and is known for his insatiable thirst to explore the world. Naina is a reserved, academically bright girl who takes a leap of faith by joining a trekking trip in the hope of discovering herself.

At the heart of Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani are the stellar characters that brought them to life. Ranbir Kapoor as Bunny is the charming and wanderlust who loves to dreams and decides to explore them whenever life gives him a chance. He captures the aspirations, dilemmas and his emotional growth throughout the movie. Deepika Padukone, as Naina Talwar, is a shy medical student who embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Her transformation from a bookish girl to someone who embraces life and love is inspiring to watch. Aditya Roy Kapoor as Avi is the fun-loving yet troubled friend who shares a heartfelt relationship with Bunny. His camaraderie with Bunny and all the struggles in his life adds more depth to the story. Kalki Koechlin, as Aditi, is that one friend who is the soul of your entire gang. Her vibrant portrayal of a fierce and loyal friend is such a joy to watch. Her character arc from a tomboyish girl to a bride embracing love is such a beauty to watch.

Even after 12 years this film somehow is relatable among the youngsters who often find themselves in a situation similar to the characters in the film. It teaches a few lessons that will add value to one's life. Be it the encouragement to chase our ambitions while reminding us of the importance of relationships or the journey of self-discovery and why it is equally important. The film also gives us a reality check of how friendships take a turn according to the pace of time. It reminds us no matter what situations one goes through, true friends stay forever.

With picturesque landscapes and stunning views of Manali, Udaipur and Paris it serves as the perfect backdrop for the character journey. The cinematography beautifully captures the true essence of the story, complementing the story's emotional lows and highs. Pritam's music is another highlight, with songs like Kabira and Illahi capturing emotional arc while Badtameez Dil and Balam Pichakari become the blockbuster dance numbers that have ever seen.

It's been 12 years since Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani first graced our screens, but the magic still has not faded away. So when Ayan Mukherjee's masterpiece returned to theatres recently, it reminded us why it was the favourite among people. It is a celebration of life, love, and friendship and a reminder to pursue our dreams. It captures the essence of youth- the eagerness to experience life, the complexities of relationships and the realization that the only thing that matters is the connection we make. Even after all these years, its themes continue to be timeless, making it a film that transcends generations. It remains a beautiful ode to the spirit of adventure and to all those people who make living life a bit worth
