Why You Should Watch Sarvam Maya Before 2025 Ends Some actors quietly become a part of your life without you even realising it. For me, and honestly, for an entire generation of Malayalam cinema lovers — Nivin Pauly is one of them. There was a time when a Nivin Pauly release meant certainty. Premam, Thattathin Marayathu, Bangalore Days, 1983, Ohm Shanthi Oshaana, these weren’t just successful films; they became emotional milestones. Comfort watches. Shared memories. Films you returned to not because they were flawless, but because they felt familiar. You didn’t simply watch those films. You grew up with them. And then… somewhere along the way, things slowed down. The movie continued, but the magic didn’t always land the same way. Expectations grew heavier, comparisons louder, and every release seemed to be measured against a version of Nivin Pauly frozen in time. Even Varshangalkku Shesham, warm and nostalgic in its own way, left you wanting more of that effortless charm, more of that...

Do Aur Do Pyaar Movie Review: Not Every Story Needs A Happy Ending

Do Aur Do Pyaar opens with a line where love is being compared to toothpaste? Yes, the one which we use every day and yet has little importance in our tedious life. It says the more you squeeze it the more you get of it. It reminded me of the days when I didn't take brushing more seriously.

The romantic film introduces us to two couples Kavya Ganeshan (Vidya Balan), Vikram Sehgal ( Senthil Ramamurthy), and Anirudh Banerjee (Pratik Gandhi) and Nora (Illeana D'cruz). It is a drama about extramarital affairs not one but two. It may seem like a normal Bollywood drama but instead, it is a love that dares to throw a couple apart but forces them to be themselves.

It is a funny yet heart-wrenching movie where you feel for the characters even though they are not right. Directed by the first-time director Shrisha Guha Thakurtha the plot has a fresh perspective avoiding all the usual melodrama. It tries to create a balance between furtive love and the struggles to keep it under wraps.

Kavya and Ani felt like roommates sharing a place until you saw their wedding pictures on the wall. After fifteen years of marriage they seem to have left with no romance has left their house. Yet no one has the guts to admit their affairs openly.

It's funny when you see that they are both sharing a sofa in the room and watching about penguins. It is said that penguins have the same mates for a lifetime and yet they both watch with literally no expression at all. Both are busy loving other people in their lives until something happens.

Kavya a dentist is very close to buying the flat of her dreams with her NRI Photographer Vikram while Ani a cork expert is seen rehearsing lines with Nora an aspiring actress. The film changes its course when both Kavya and Ani visit Ooty- the place where they have cherished memories. Suddenly sparks start flying between them and they decide to give their relationship a chance.

The feeling of trying to keep everything together and lying to their respective lovers creates a clutter in both Kavya's and Ani's lives. The guilt and trauma start taking the front seat and a sudden realization of reality hits both of them. The saying that sometimes love is not enough for a relationship feels true. Instead of a happy ending for all four of them, the movie ends where Kavya and Ani are both single and having Chinese with her favourite chilly sauce in their old house.

Even though the film deals with adultery- the topic is approached with a light-hearted approach. Instead of criticising it morally the brilliance of creating a romantic movie is truly the best. Even though it is a remake of the Hollywood film The Lovers released in 2017 it gives a Bollywood bang with the marriage between Tamil Brahmin and a Bengali man.

As every character has its charm both Sendhil and Illeana play their part to the best. Whether being an NRI photographer or an aspiring actress both of them have a true appeal to the characters they have portrayed.

Although a Gujju Pratik's Bong character can handle a wide range of emotions which makes him a joy to watch. The changes when he is around Vidya are the range of his talents where he can let loose and be a delight to see. The chemistry he shares with Vidya is appealing which gives a fresh breath of air to the movie.

Vidya as Kavya is at her best. The wildness with which Vidya plays Kavya is truly admirable. Whether those goofy moments or putting a fight she is tremendous at what she does. She is one of those people who never fails to impress any moment she has.

Even though the movie has an unpleasant ending it is somehow a modern take on how people are complicated yet simple in their ways. The truth is that sometimes a person is more important than the relationship shines more brightly. So if you want to watch it then start binging it on Hotstar.
