Mismatched Season 3: Will Dimple and Rishi Finally Be Together?
The most loved couple Dimpshi is back again to charm our screens. Staring on Netflix this is one of the most highly anticipated shows among teens. A love story of tech geek Dimple (Prajakta Koli) and old-school Rishi (Rohit Saraf). This season is not all about being in love but the work of sustaining the relationships in a pool of chaos. For those who have not watched the last two seasons of Mismatched a small recap is coming right away.
Recap of Seasons 1 and 2:-
Mismatched is a story about two diametrically opposite personalities who are yet to meet in a summer course in Jaipur. Rishi is a simple boy who loves old-school romances and has joined the course to meet his future wife. Dimple a tech geek who loves coding has totally different notions about love and marriage. Her perception regarding marriage is contrastingly opposite to Rishi's filmy ideas. Their first meeting is a disaster but the summer course brings them together in contrast to their different personalities.
The first two seasons primarily focused on themes of love, coming age and different societal expectations. This resonated well among all the teens and started to love this show. But what made the first two seasons more popular was the supporting cast led by Taaruk Raina and Muskkaan Jafferi.
Anmol Malhotra (Taaruk Raina) meets with an accident and has now become a disabled person. Instead of dealing with his emotional vulnerabilities, he puts up a facade of being a bully to portray himself as a tough guy. Celina (Muskkaan Jafferi) pretends to put up a brave front but deep down she has secrets of her own.
Season 3:-
This season a virtual world is introduced along with the narrative of Mismatched. The season too manages to still be cute and full of romantic clichés filled in it. But isn't that the comfort we exactly need during the end of this year. With Christmas around the corner binge watching this series seems to be the perfect watch.
Mismatched Season 3 picks up right from where it last ended. After confessing their love for each other Rishi and Dimple's fate has different plans for them. With Rishi getting admitted to Dimple's dream college NNIT and starting to live in a world surrounded by machines- it almost seems like Rishi is living her life. After getting dejected she starts to lament her own fate for 3 years but finally joins LLIT another institute headed by Professor Sidharth (Ranvijay Singha).
The eight-episode series explores the love story of 3 different couples that found their way to each other in the last two seasons. But with growing distance and opinions, these couples have to go through time-testing situations. Amongst their love for each other, they strive to find their own individuality. With an amazing storyline this season you are not only going to root for Rishi and Dimple but also for Zeenat (Vidya Malvade) and Sidharth, Anmol and Vinny, (Ahsaas Channa) and Celina and Rith (Laurena Robinson).
This season the makers have not only delved into Rishi and Dimple's life but also the supporting cast. It has more to say about love through all the subplots introduced in the plot. It suggests that one of the major hurdles is ourselves- the feeling of constantly being timid and the fear of being rejected. The best example is Aalif's story where he falls for Anuradha but is in fear of being rejected by her. He feels that he is going to be judged for being overweight and is not going to be overlooked beyond that. It also touches upon the insecurities of the transgender community and their struggles of coming out in this judgmental society. The fear of accepting themselves and embracing love when stumble upon it.
Each love story goes through its own challenges when it comes to their individuality. Rishi and Dimple go through a long distance for 3 years while meeting in a virtual world. Even when their long-distance relationship ends it seems that they both are on a journey to retain their own identity. Zeenat and Sidharth have come a long way from being a student and professor to finally getting married. But the need for a child creates chaos in their blissful relationship.
From being a bully to finally understanding and accepting how one should accept their own vulnerabilities Amol has come a long way. When he finally gets trolled and constantly feels like a charity in his relationship with Vinny it seems like a fight is on the way. Celina finally accepts her individuality and helps Rith who seems to be unsure of letting the world know his identity. But with an ulterior motive in Rith's mind will their relationship ever blossom? Well, to know if these love stories suffer or endure these tough times you will have to start watching it.
One of the major reasons for this series being a blockbuster is because of its casting. The loving chemistry between the lead actors Prajakta and Rohit is a delight to watch. It seems that when Rohit smiles you can see the entire screen lit up. His portrayal as the old-school Rishi seems effortless. Prajakta as Dimple has come a long way from being a YouTuber to a seasoned actor. Ranvijay as Sidharth seems charming and a character who becomes the voice of all these hopeless romantics. Taaruk as Anmol shines while portraying various shades of a person who is unable to accept his own insecurities to finally come to terms with them. Special mention must be made of Laurena Robinson who plays Rith. But it would have been if the character had been given more layers.
Well with Ishq Hai being the new song for all the romantic souls out there there sure is a comparison to Aise Kyun the chartbuster song in the earlier seasons. But honestly, I missed it being played in the background for this season.
Mismatched Season 3 is all about those seeking their own identity but with all those cut and cliche moments we need in this busy life. It is what exactly the fans expect with these series. A perfect series to watch at this time of the year when all you want is feel-good content.
