Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein is back with a bang for its next season after 3 years. The first season released in January 2022 opened with the famous Shakespeare quote from Othello "For she had eyes and she choose me". This season opened with another quote of him "The course of true love never did run smooth". If you want to really know what it is all about you have to watch it.

Recap Of Season 1-

Purva (Aanchal Singh) is abducted by Jalan (Arunoday Singh) who was supposed to kill her. Instead he double crossed Vikrant (Tahir Raj Bhasin) and now needs 100 crore to make sure that Purva is not back home. Vikrant is stuck between true love and obsessive love. Akheraj Awasthi (Saurabh Shukla) is a father who would do anything to make his daughter happy. Shikha (Shwetha Tripathi) is trying to kick in her survival instincts and is on a run hoping to unite with Vikrant. Guru (Gurmeet Chaudhary) joins the cast as Purva's friend who did love her at some point. Well that's briefly the recap of the first season.

Season 2-

Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein 2 starts from the same point it left back in the last season. In the first season it may seem like that there might be some restraint from the character's side but this season gets you hooked right from the start. After a successful first season it is really difficult for a successful comeback but director Sidharth Sengupta and the co-writers Anahata Menon and Varun Badola ensured that every thrill and twist unfolds in a mysterious and commendable way.

The season begins from a flashback where you see young Purva with her mother (Rajeshwari Sachdev) in a car who is chased by policemen. During the chase her mother explains that one should never fear whatever the situation might be and pushes her daughter out of the car going down forever. Till this point you may have always seen Purva from Vikrant's point of view as the crazy lover who is set to destroy his life. But this flashback makes you think her as a poor soul who lost her mother and is now seeking a companionship.

Tahir Raj Bhasin is excellent as Vikrant. In the first season he is scared to even hold a gun but in this season he goes all out and it seems that he is ready to go to any extent in order to survive the ordeal. It seems that no matter what he does fate does not align with him. If you loved his performance him is season 1 then you surely are going to be surprised the layers his character reveal according to the situation he gets in. The depth and the subtlety he shows as an actor is equally praiseworthy.

Aanchal Singh as Purva is smart, alluring and even remains composed in situations where she is almost about to loose her life. Even in dreadful moments she seem to outsmart the kidnappers in a wink of eye. But it is her perplexing character that leaves you out of your wits not knowing what to expect next. With her next step never revealed on the front she seems to be the most dangerous character of the whole lot. But you know what it is surely in the genes that seem to make Purva at ease even when she is lost. Saurabh Shukla as Akheraj Awasthi is spectacular as ever. No matter what part he plays he makes sure he does it exceptionally well. With his daughter's life at stake all the ends start getting together and he makes sure that he will not leave any stone unturned.

Shwetha Tripathi as Shikha is truly a performer. In the first season it is only the survival game for her trying to make a run for her life. But in this season she has few more problems in addition to the rest. With being married to the Deputy Superintend of Police (DSP) it seems that she is stuck in a never ending loop of problems. Her charcter demands a certain innocence to play her part and she seems to be acing it. Gurmeet Chaudhary as Guru is an interesting character that is introduced in this season. It is hard to make a presence in the hit series when you begin somewhere in the middle but he gets noticed. With his strong presence and aura his part is worth watching but at times it does feel unnecessary.

When the makers released the next season with a gap of 3 years it seems like a intelligent choice. With not giving people enough time to understand what worked in the past makers only revive those parts which are really needed. But at times it does not well with the plot. So before watching this season it is recommended that you need to watch the first part.

From the opening scene the theme for this season is already set and you might never want to skip any moment while watching this nail bitting series. Also not to forget the background scores and screenplay that elevates the series a level higher. The narration from Tahir too adds a punch to the narrative making it more gripping.

On the whole Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein keeps you on the edge till the end. It does what is best at- cliffhangers. The show traces its way back to the point it started from- True love never ends smooth. Will Vikrant finally find peace? Will he finally unite with his love or are there more to the story? It remains to be seen.
